Job description

Job Summary 

 The Software Development Engineer II position is the individual contributor intermediate level position in the software engineering series. Under moderate supervision, the incumbent will support all software aspects of the development and design of products and product improvements of moderate difficulty requiring the use of some independent judgment. Incidental to these design efforts, the Software Development Engineer II will work both independently and as part of a team to develop creative solutions based on requirements from specific customers or general market requirements.   

Responsibilities 

  • Identify where product features interfere with usability or maintainability 
  • Understands and follows product development processes 
  • Create introductory installation for small applications and utilities 
  • Integrate software components into existing build 
  • Develops using software best practices to ensure implementation quality 
  • Adds component to the repository 
  • Reproduces and defines boundaries of defect, suggest causes or dependencies 
  • Can retrieve and review project documentation in EPO 
  • Ability to work with code that is object oriented, modular, and readable 
  • Using source control tools and complier 
  • Working knowledge of assemblies 
  • Ability to understand and run previously written scripts and modify as required 
  • Knowledge or familiarity of architecture within product 
  • Ability to understand and run unit test previously written and modify as required 
  • Implementing specific user interface detail 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager. 

Qualifications 

  • Experience with C++ and C# software development 
  • BS Degree in Software Engineering/Science or comparable preferred 
  • 2-5 years of software experience  
  • Tactical group written/verbal communication to peers/management 
  • Works within framework of identified organizational strategy 
  • Work as directed with Senior level personnel/managers  
  • Meets 100% of Development Engineer (Software) Level II Competency Profile 
  • Must be eligible to obtain passport 
  • Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with others, build relationships, and involve others in decision making.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to deliver results by solving or supporting others in solving problems, prioritizing tasks, and/or resources, and focusing on outcomes.
