UNCOMN is seeking a Application Engineer (Senior, Software Developer 4) to:
  • Develop, refactor, and support application services used in modernization efforts across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Implement business logic, APIs, integration points, and supporting components based on approved designs and requirements.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and improve reliability, performance, and maintainability across environments.
  • Work closely with architects, platform engineers, testers, and analysts to deliver production-ready software changes.
  • Support source control, build, deployment, and release practices aligned with team standards and client requirements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, peer reviews, and solution quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, CMIS, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or 4 additional years of related experience.
  • Hands-on application development experience with modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience building or supporting service-based applications, APIs, and application integrations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot defects, analyze root causes, and implement durable fixes.
  • Experience working within structured development workflows that include code review, testing, and controlled release.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance or similar, granted by the U.S. Government, which requires U.S. citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual's eligibility.
  • Must be willing to obtain relevant certifications as required by future client or contract needs.
Preferred
  • Experience with Java or Spring-based application development.
  • Experience supporting AWS-based applications, containerized services, or CI/CD-driven delivery.
  • Exposure to modernization work in regulated or mission-critical environments.
  • Candidates local to the St. Louis Metro East market/within commuting distance preferred, although not required.
