Job description

Job Title: Senior Release & Deployment Engineer (ITSM & CI/CD Focus)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Release & Deployment Engineer to own our enterprise release governance, change management framework, and deployment readiness cycles. In this role, you will be the bridge between high-velocity DevOps delivery teams and our production environment, ensuring that every deployment is rigorously tested, mitigated for risk, and aligned with enterprise-grade stability standards.
This is a high-visibility, process-oriented role for a candidate who understands the "how" and "why" behind successful production releases. You will lead Change Advisory Board (CAB) functions, own the release lifecycle within ServiceNow, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to evolve our CI/CD pipelines while maintaining peak operational health.
Key Responsibilities
Release Governance & Change Control
• Change Record Management: Act as the primary owner for all change records within ServiceNow. Ensure all documentation, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder approvals are accurate, timely, and compliant.
• CAB Leadership: Actively participate in Change and Release meetings, including delivery stand-ups and CAB boards; advocate for release readiness and provide the technical authority necessary to approve or pause deployments.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively monitor the forward schedule of changes; evaluate cross-platform impacts and coordinate with stakeholders to mitigate risks to our production environment.
• Deployment Validation: Review release repositories within CI/CD pipelines, evaluate regression test results, and audit security scan findings to assess total release readiness.
Collaboration & Process Evolution
• Continuous Improvement: Lead post-deployment reviews, soliciting feedback from engineering teams to evolve our internal release processes. Incorporate findings into updated operational standards.
• Strategic ITSM Growth: Provide tactical and strategic recommendations based on ITSM Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Translate complex technical obstacles into actionable process improvements.
• Metric-Driven Excellence: Design and implement scalable, high-quality metrics and KPIs to evaluate release quality. Identify critical trends or "risk drivers" within the IT delivery teams and recommend corrective actions.
Mentorship & Technical Integration
• Technical Assimilation: Act as a subject matter expert who can ingest complex technical requirements and documentation, translating them into reliable release criteria.
• Team Leadership: Coach and mentor junior team members, providing leadership with actionable input on their technical growth and career progression.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), Software Development, or high-level Technical Support.
• Functional Expertise: Minimum of five (5) years of direct, hands-on experience in formal Change and Release Management.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification: Active ITIL Foundations certification is required.
• Process Mastery: Deep understanding of Agile structures, Software/Engineering lifecycles, and Project Management methodologies.
• Tooling Proficiency: Deep hands-on experience with ServiceNow for change management and a solid understanding of modern DevOps / CI/CD pipelines.
