Job Description

The SoC Commercial Lead - Gastroenterology is responsible for defining, implementing, and leading the Standard of Care (SoC) commercial strategy across the gastroenterology portfolio. This position plays a key role in shaping how the organization drives disease area leadership, elevates patient outcomes, and sets new benchmarks for clinical and commercial excellence in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Medical, Market Access, Marketing, public and governance relationship teams to ensure consistent SoC adoption and alignment with the company's long-term strategic priorities. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Standard of Care (SoC) roadmap to position the company's IBD portfolio as the treatment of choice for healthcare professionals, patients, and payers. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of SoC principles across brand strategies, launch plans, and educational initiatives. 
  • Lead strategic planning and market-shaping activities aligned with the company's therapeutic vision and business goals. 

Commercial Execution 

  • Design and deploy commercial models and engagement frameworks to accelerate SoC adoption across target markets. 
  • Collaborate with analytics and insights teams to track SoC performance indicators and optimize promotional investments. 
  • Drive the implementation of data-driven value communication strategies that connect clinical outcomes with real-world benefits. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Corporate Affairs to ensure alignment of SoC narratives and evidence generation plans. 
  • Partner with local and regional commercial leads to adapt global strategies to market realities and ensure effective execution. 
  • Serve as the internal SoC champion, fostering alignment and engagement across functional and country teams.

External Engagement 

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key opinion leaders, patient associations, and professional societies in gastroenterology. 
  • Represent the company at major congresses and forums (ECCO, UEGW, DDW, etc.) to strengthen visibility and thought leadership. 
  • Support policy and access initiatives that facilitate SoC adoption and sustainable patient access. 
Qualifications

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Business Administration, or related field required. 
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) preferred. 

Experience 

  • Least 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in commercial leadership roles. 
  • Proven experience in Gastroenterology, Immunology, or related therapeutic areas. 
  • Demonstrated success in launch strategy, market-shaping, or SoC transformation initiatives. 
  • Track record of effective cross-functional leadership in complex, matrixed environments. 

Competencies 

  • Strategic and analytical thinking with strong business acumen. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and geographies. 
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on execution and measurable impact. 
  • Fluent in English (additional languages desirable).
