Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Robotics & Electronics Technician is a specialized technical role within the Engineering function, responsible for advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of robotic and automated systems. This position operates independently from the traditional technician progression (Tech I, II, III) and serves as a subject matter expert in automation, controls, and robotics to support plant performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair of complex electrical, robotic, and automated system failures.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs using Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000) and related platforms.
  • Maintain and support robotic systems (FANUC preferred), AGVs, and advanced automation equipment.
  • Partner with Engineering and Maintenance teams on equipment upgrades, installations, and system improvements.
  • Serve as the primary resource for plant automation issues and escalated technical challenges.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance while maintaining accurate system documentation and backups.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, uptime, and process efficiency.
  • Provide advanced-level training and coaching to maintenance and technical teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards (HSE).
  • Identify risks, communicate issues proactively, and support root cause analysis efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Maintenance, Automation, Robotics, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, or advanced electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Allen-Bradley PLC programming (Studio 5000) and FANUC robotics strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex automation and control systems in a manufacturing environment.

Role Distinction:
  • This role is not part of the standard technician progression.
  • Serves as a plant-level technical expert in robotics and automation systems.
  • Works cross-functionally with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to support strategic initiatives.

Work Environment & Requirements:

Additional Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with maintenance and automation software systems.
  • Basic math skills, including measurements, ratios, and data interpretation.

Must be willing to work 2nd shift hours
