Principal Associate, Security Intelligence Analyst, Protective Intelligence Global Workplace Services

That's why our team is looking to add a Protective Intelligence Analyst.

The Intelligence Analyst (IA) within Global Workplace Services will specialize in the collection, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of security risk intelligence information. Areas of analysis include, but are not limited to crime, political, economic, social, cultural, health, and environmental factors impacting security risk to Capital One associates and business interests in foreign and domestic environments. The Protective Intelligence Analyst partners directly with the Executive Protection and Threat Management teams as an OSINT specialist.

The Ideal Candidate Should:

  • Analyze collected information to assess the credibility, likelihood, and potential impact of threats and produce timely, accurate, and relevant intelligence reports and briefings.

  • Deliver clear, concise, and tailored communication to appropriate audiences across all levels

  • Familiarity with security operation centers and administration of travel security programs including expertise in technologies and data sources and apply relevant prior experience.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional partnerships and stakeholders; proactively inform them of relevant intelligence.

  • Contribute to solutions with confidence, achieve desired outcomes effectively, and demonstrate leadership among peers.

  • Consistently apply expertise, deeply understand day-to-day operations, and operate with little oversight and high success.

  • Manage work effectively, consider multiple perspectives, and lead through ambiguity to gain buy-in and declare next steps.

  • Hold self and others accountable to Capital One values and constructively challenges non-aligned decisions.

  • Be open to creative solutions, collaborate with others to solve problems, and ground issue severity on level of impact.

  • Manage work to deliver results per timelines, prioritize business-critical work, and manage high volume effectively.

  • Respect individual contributions, actively helps others succeed, and consistently volunteers for staffing and training support.

  • Interact with other members of the intelligence community and law enforcement to share information, benchmark threat mitigation practices and forge professional relationships

  • Be able to make decisions, while under stress, that provides for the safety and security of the Capital One associates, visitors and assets

  • Be able to work, and respond to emergencies, during non-traditional hours (e.g. nights, weekends, and holidays)

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute highly-quality written intelligence products including tactical alerts, strategic reports and investigation support with minimal oversight, and provide editorial support to team members

  • Brief leadership on salient supporting information to potential security threats to Capital One executives, associates, assets, and operations

  • Integrate within a continuous monitoring operation, passing on critical information as warranted; Provide near real time intelligence support to threat assessment and executive protection operations

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for executive travel, events, and residences

  • Participate in security planning meetings and contribute to the development of security strategies

  • Assist with special due diligence cases and other open source investigations/research including threat management investigations and criminal background screening

  • Monitor geopolitical events of concern that might impact international travel, corporate events, and/or operations, and provide timely and accurate reporting

  • Summarize pertinent data from intelligence reports from confidential, open source and third-party providers regarding the threat environment. Organize and present accurate information in a logical sequence in support of decisioning

  • Review intelligence sources, collection workflows and analytical tradecraft, suggesting program improvement recommendations as appropriate. Contribute to best practices, technical standards, and scalable processes for operational threat intelligence

  • Flag potential items of impact to Capital One and initiate alerting procedure

  • Assist other analysts in maintaining monitoring calendars, dashboards and other tools of the operation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in intelligence gathering, intelligence database search tools and analysis and reporting

  • At least 3 years of experience with open source intelligence (OSINT) data collection, online research, investigative techniques and methodologies or a combination of the three

  • At least 3 years of experience with social media and online investigations, including expertise in OSINT methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Intelligence Analysis, International Relations, or Homeland Security

  • 3+ years of experience in the private sector

  • 5+ years of experience in the collection and analysis of threat intelligence

  • 4+ years of experience intelligence gathering in support of executive protection activities

  • 4+ years of experience delivering threat and risk assessments, travel advisories, travel or other written and verbal intelligence products to an executive audience

  • 4+ years of experience in investigations, threat management, or workplace violence

  • 1+ year of experience with security operation centers including the training of SOC personnel in intelligence analysis

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York, NY: $118,800 - $135,600 for Pr Associate, Security Services


McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Pr Associate, Security Services


Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Pr Associate, Security Services









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
