Part -Time Research Associate - School of Science & Engineering
Salary: $19.80/HR
Location: Science and engineering
Position Status: Part-time
Hours: Varied, 20 hours per week.
Position Number: 870318/70-0174
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Associate will report to the chair of the department and will beresponsible for running instrumentation in the Environmental and WaterResources Laboratory. This will beprimarily water quality testing for drinking, waste, and ambient/environmental samples. As a teaching facility, the ResearchAssociate will also teach research students how to use the instrumentation andpresent in classes on how to use the instruments.
DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach students how to operate instruments.
Support researchoperations.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering or a relatedfield from an accredited educational institution.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
Analytical water testing.
Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity.
Ability and willingness to contribute actively to the mission of the Universityand to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University. Themission is implemented through a commitment to academic excellence, a spirit ofservice, moral and spiritual values, sensitivity to world concerns, and anecumenical campus community.
