Job description

TITLE: Associate Food Scientist
LOCATION: Onsite in Alsip, IL
COMP RANGE: $68,400 - $87,900
Griffith Foods is hiring an Associate Food Scientist to support Griffith Foods Research and Development projects to develop new and optimized products for key clients, supporting the overall Griffith Foods business strategy.
This is your opportunity to bring innovation to life by partnering with our R&D team, providing hands-on creative and technical support that makes a positive impact worldwide.
As an Associate Food Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
  • Applying food science principles in research and development.

  • Providing support to the design, planning, execution, and reporting of experiments and projects at the direction of a Director, Manager, Senior Principal or Principal Scientist.

  • Working within assigned priorities, projects, and timelines, using technical and problem-solving skills to approach projects.

  • Communicating project progress internally.

  • Completing product formulation activities to drive efficient production of safe and regulatory compliant food products.

  • Following Research & Development processes to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of function

  • Maintaining GLP's, GMP's, and all required laboratory records, using electronic systems and written protocols.

  • Completing assigned activities that support the long-term strategy of the organization.

  • Representing Research & Development in professional business relationships with GFUS client and supplier base.

  • Responsibility for maintaining the security of all information regarding product formulas and related confidential information

The Associate Food Scientist position is well suited for you if you have:

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or Meat Science

  • One year of experience in R&D within the food industry.

  • Must be able to eat and taste animal protein products and allergens including but not limited to wheat, dairy and egg.

  • Ability to travel 30% of the time

  • Ability to work onsite in ALSIP, IL 5 days per week

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs

  • Must be okay with visiting meat processing plants and attending trials within our seasoning plant.

  • Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
