Job Description
MPRC PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST - ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: The Department of Psychiatry, Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time physician scientist to join our dynamic faculty. We are seeking a researcher with a strong focus on translational research in schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
This faculty position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead innovative, bench-to-clinic research aimed at understanding mechanisms of risk, onset, illness trajectories, outcomes, or developing novel treatments for schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Candidates with interests in early phase psychosis, metabolic psychiatry, negative symptomatology, or other emerging areas of psychiatric research are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of obtaining, or the potential to obtain, extramural funding to support their research. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop and maintain a research program supported through extramural funding.

• Advanced neuroimaging (including magnetic resonance techniques)
• Neuromodulation methods such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities, including the UMSOM MPRC Magnetic Resonance Center, the Maryland Brain Collection, neuromodulation labs, clinical trials infrastructure, basic science labs, and biobanking resources. MPRC is internationally recognized for its leadership in schizophrenia research and treatment and offers a supportive environment to ensure extramural funding success and career development.
Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, tenure-track. However, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate's experience.
Expected Salary Range: $230,000 to $300,000. The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
