Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc., a privately held company, is an authorized sales and service center for the Swagelok Company, a $2B global organization that designs, manufactures, and delivers an expanding range of the highest quality fluid system products. Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. serves customers in Eastern New York State (23 counties in the Tech Valley), the State of Connecticut, the State of Vermont, and Western Massachusetts (4 counties) since incorporation, May 1972.


Summary:

Reporting to the Sales Operations Senior Manager, the Field Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers by providing engineering expertise, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial fluid systems. This role partners closely with customers to improve system safety, reliability, efficiency, and performance through on-site evaluations, engineering recommendations, and technical consultation. The ideal candidate will have solid project management skills, the ability to solve complex problems and be able to identify new and/or emerging opportunities.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Become an expert on Swagelok offerings and process and instrumentation applications
  • Identify opportunities to improve system safety, reliability, efficiency, and overall performance at customer facilities
  • Support the Business Development Team by providing technical expertise to customers on the application of Swagelok products through sales and business development calls
  • Troubleshoot fluid system issues and determine root causes of operational challenges
  • Leverage project management skills to collaborate with customers during system design, installation, startup, commissioning, and maintenance activities
  • Stay connected with customer base and industry trends to help ensure Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. continues to lead the marketplace
  • Deliver technical guidance and training to customers and our internal associates on proper installation, operation, and maintenance of fluid systems
  • Maintain strong customer relationships by serving as a trusted engineering resource throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop P&ID’s, understand customer system parameters, and provide input to internal engineering teams to create Custom Solutions to solve customers’ fluid system challenges
  • Attain stated sales goals by understanding strategic plans of distributor and the business group


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline – required
  • History of success in business, sales, or Application Engineering
  • Demonstrated success rapidly building and maintaining relationships
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • The ability to interpret and understand customer applications to develop P&ID and fluid schematics
  • Skills to solve complex problems, and complete projects using problem solving methods to make sound engineering decisions
  • Demonstrated success working with technical offerings
  • A history of excellence in communication, active listening, problem solving and a willingness to close
  • A history of, or demonstrated intrinsic drive to compete and win
