Electrical Designer, Backup Power

Department: Engineering

FIDELITY MANUFACTURING is part of the backup Power Generation Industry. We design and build

backup power packages (to include tanks and enclosures) for large and small health, industrial, and

technology-oriented businesses that cannot have a power lapse at any time.


Position Summary: We are looking for an Electrical Designer to work within our engineering team to carry out specific tasks that are vital to the design & production of electrical generator system packages.


Essential Functions

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

1. Use computers and computer systems to design electrical circuits, control systems, and layout drawings for generator system packages, according to NFPA, NEC, & UL 2200.

2. Prepare technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems for new products and product changes.

3. Help the team in the development of conceptual design changes to electrical systems for improved reliability and efficiency.

4. Gather product information and read design specifications.

5. Assist and create electrical Bills of Material (BoM).

6. Update files and maintain consistency with engineering records and part drawings.

7. Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.

8. Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes.

9. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.

10. Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.

11. Performs other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent job experience. Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent is a plus.
  2. 5+ years of professional experience in the Power Generation Industry with three-phase electrical systems construction and production, low to medium voltage.
  3. Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NEC, ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, and UL.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, specifically, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  5. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks; SolidWorks Electrical is a plus.
  6. Highly organized, efficient, multi-tasker with process improvement mindset and skillset.
  7. Strong work ethic, demonstrates initiative.
  8. Team player with positive attitude and desire to learn.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  10. Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  12. Multi-tasker who can tackle multiple projects at the same time.
  13. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Work environment is an office atmosphere. Work environment could also involve some outside

exposure. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long

periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal; climb stairs;

balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and

feel; reach with hands; and communicate with others. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and filing systems. Work is generally conducted in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or other environmental hazards. Occasional movement throughout the facility or visits to production or warehouse areas may occur. When entering production areas, employees are required to follow all posted safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
