Are you a recent engineering graduate who enjoys solving technical problems and wants to gain hands-on experience with complex building systems? As a Facilities Systems Engineer I, you'll play an important role in helping support the critical infrastructure that keeps our hospital and multi-building campus operating around the clock.
This is an entry-level, full-time opportunity designed for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in facilities engineering. Through a structured training program, you'll work alongside experienced professionals while gaining practical experience with the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, steam, and chilled water systems that support patient care, research, and daily operations across our campus.
Over approximately 12 to 18 months, you'll participate in guided classroom and field-based training designed to prepare you for advancement into a Facilities Systems Engineer II role with increasing responsibility and independence.
The starting annual salary for this position is $72,429 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
Learn the operation and maintenance of large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
Support the monitoring and performance of critical campus infrastructure
Participate in hands-on training focused on chilled water and steam generation systems
Investigate and help solve technical and operational challenges
Work with experienced engineers, supervisors, and technical staff to build your knowledge and skills
Assist with system performance tracking, analysis, and documentation
Create practical procedures, technical guides, and work instructions that help support safe and effective operations
Explore and apply technology solutions that improve compliance, reporting, and system management
Develop the technical expertise needed to assume greater operational responsibilities over time

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Engineering Sciences or related field; or
2. Associate's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Engineering Sciences or related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in Facilities Systems; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, five (5) years of military training or its equivalent in boiler (steam), chiller (chilled water) or HVAC systems, and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time experience in a power plant or similar setting as a boiler operator.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
