THE SIMPLE GOOD - DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Development Associate (Part-Time) - The Simple Good Location: Chicago, IL (220 N. Green Street) Reports to: Director of Development and Executive Director FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt - 25 hours per week with the possibility of full-time hours Pay: $25 to $30/hour depending on experience. Term: June 1 December 31, 2026 (with potential to extend based on funding)

About Us: The Simple Good is a Chicago-based nonprofit empowering youth through art-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and mindfulness programming. Since our founding, we've reached

7,200+ students across 40+ neighborhoods locally and globally, helping young people build emotional resilience, self-expression, and a sense of community.

The Role: We're hiring a part-time Development Associate to help us grow our fundraising efforts and pull off memorable events like Hunt for Good and City of Big Dreams. You'll work closely with our Director of Development, our Executive Director (Priya Shah), and the Growth Committee of our Board of Directors to support donor engagement, event logistics, and day-to-day fundraising operations.

What You'll Do

  • Support donor engagement by managing donor relations, grants management, and other fundraising tasks
  • Assist event planing as needed
  • Attend events and represent The Simple Good
  • Draft and send donor communications (thank-you notes, event invitations, follow-ups, campaign updates)
  • Maintain our donor database and keep records clean and current
  • Support the Director of Development, Executive Director, and Growth Committee with meeting prep, materials, and follow-through on action items
  • Pitch in wherever the team needs you, we are a small nonprofit wear everyone wears lots of hats

What We're Looking For

  • The role is hybrid - office & events are all in Chicago
  • Experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit events or related experience
  • Strong writing and communication skills, especially in donor-facing messages
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple deadlines
  • Warm, professional, and genuinely excited about our mission
  • Comfortable with tools like Google Workspace tools, Gmail, Word

Nice to Have

  • Some experience with nonprofit CRMs (database)
  • Background in event planning or other detailed managing, scheduling, etc.
  • Connection to Chicago's nonprofit, arts, or education communities

Schedule & Compensation
