Job description

Title: Music Announcer/Coordinator Operator, WEMU

General Summary
Coordinate and schedule local and network programs, including pre-recording and production as necessary. Supervise preparation of daily program, operating and recording logs. Coordinate production of local promotional announcements. Train new operators in use of equipment. Host departmental radio program(s).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare, coordinate and schedule recording and broadcast of local and network programs.
  • Prepare, produce and host music programs in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform engineering duties in compliance with station policy and FCC rules.
  • Coordinate departmental radio program and promotional production.
  • Train operators in use of broadcast equipment.
  • Supervise preparation of daily program, operating and recording logs.
  • Record programs as provided through the department's satellite system.
  • Provide Music Manager with report of broadcast music selections.
  • Recommend new equipment, systems and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read aloud, write, interpret instructions, organize in great detail and perform basic and clock arithmetic, typically acquired through completion of an Associate's degree or equivalent, is required.
Four years of radio experience, two of which are in music announcing, are necessary.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Evidence of good organizational skills is necessary.
Possession of, or the ability to possess a FCC Restricted Radio Telephone Permit is necessary.
