Job Summary:
Cardinal Integrated Technologies Inc is seeking an iSeries QA Lead to design, develop, and execute software test strategies and plans. The role involves managing the QA process, ensuring adherence to best practices, and collaborating with development teams to resolve defects.
Responsibilities:
• Designs, develops, and executes software test strategies, test plans and test scripts.
• Confirms accuracy and completeness of functional, integration, system, end to end, and acceptance test plans.
• Designs, creates and approves (or oversees the creation and approval of) project test cases, scripts and conditions as well as QA-related documentation.
• Develops and ensures adherence to standardized software quality assurance best practices, policies, processes and controls as it pertains to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Develops and communicates accurate project estimates based on testing dependency analysis as requested by the project/management team.
• Analyzes and determines test dependencies including QA environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans and communication processes.
• Analyzes relevant business content and participates in requirement gathering sessions providing input on requirement and design documents, assessing requirements for testability, clarity, purpose, inherent ambiguity, contradictory functions and implementation.
• Develops, documents and leads the Defect Management process.
• Ensures test cases are traceable to originating story/requirement and those tests fully test feature requirements and/or user story acceptance criteria.
• Manages defects appropriately by assigning, monitoring and providing timely communication through the defect lifecycle.
• Conducts QA risk management process throughout the test plan phase defining and differentiating between risk, defect, and issue.
• Assists teammates in growing and developing the skills necessary to grasp application concepts and tool suite.
• Identifies and resolves problems often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
• Participates in requirements, use cases, and user story reviews. Provides accurate estimates for QA resources and testing schedules.
• Creates and gains project approval on project test plans.
• Creates and/or oversees the creation and approval of project test cases.
• Oversees or generates all QA-related documentation. Assists with requirement tracing through the test cycle process.
• Initiates are responsible for developing and updating new or existing documentation and processing service tickets.
• Collaborates with Development to resolve defects uncovered during testing cycles. Finds better systems and procedures to automate or improve our QA processes.
• Assists with standardized reporting and QA metrics. Assists with defect and requirement traceability and tracking resolution.
• Attends team and project meetings as necessary. Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum 3 years' software quality assurance experience.
• Experience testing in an iSeries (RPG) environment.
• Strong knowledge of Client ALM and similar QA test tools.
• Strong knowledge of a typical SDLC, as well as experience testing on Agile or DevOps teams.
• Experience working on QA teams as part of agile processes and methodologies.
• Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently, with different groups and teams, utilizing solid communication skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent testing resource planning and test scheduling skills.
• Ability to produce effective software test plans and test cases.
• Ability to produce verifiable and consistent test evidence and results.
• Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management standards.
• Software quality assurance experience.
• Experience testing in one or more of the following environments: Cloud based testing, UI testing, functional testing, n-tier client/server, and RDBMS.
• Hands-on experience using Client, IBM, or other industry standard SQA tools.
• Experience with Oracle or MS SQL Server or DB2 and the ability to write SQL queries using table joins.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, SDLC, and SQA methodology.
• Excellent test resource planning and test scheduling skills.
• Ability to produce and mentor others in creation of effective software test plans and test cases.
• Ability to write quality defects and work directly with developers to resolve the defects.
• Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management standards.
• Ability to communicate and work closely with other teams: System administration, db administration.
