Minimum Education and Experience
The ideal candidate has to have Ph.D. in a related field or discipline, or an equivalent
combination of education and/or relevant experience, and a minimum of five years of relevant
professional experience, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy

  • Experience with large-scale ITS projects and Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) testbeds
  • Proven track record of involvement in large-scale ITS initiatives, demonstrating understanding of the design, implementation, and management of advanced transportation systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering principles, including the ability to design, plan, and document complex ITS solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITS and microscopic traffic simulation architectures, supporting the development of simulation platforms
  • Hands-on experience with field instrumentation, as well as the installation and deployment of ITS devices, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Demonstrated success in preparing, drafting, and submitting grant proposals for ITS projects, with a proven ability to secure funding through compelling proposals.
  • Background in the maintenance, optimization, and operational oversight of ITS systems, ensuring reliability and sustained performance.

Overview
This is part of the DataCity Smart Mobility Testing Ground initiative to build a living lab for research and development of Connected and Automated Vehicle and Smart City technologies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • 30%: Collaborates with DataCity PIs and students to design, develop, and implement
    technology solutions for DataCity's data sharing and application test platforms
  • 30%: Monitors, assesses, and tests the performance of both front-end and back-end systems,
    identifying areas for improvement and developing comprehensive enhancement plans
  • 10%: Engages in effective outreach and coordination efforts with transportation agencies and
    private sectors to identify and address client needs and seek collaboration opportunities.
  • 10%: Prepares, plans, and writes funding proposals to secure financial support from federal,
    state, and local funding opportunities.
  • 10%: Provides technical support, guidance, and necessary training to internal students
    engineer/developer teams and agency partners to foster a collaborative and productive
    work environment.
  • 10%: Ensures effective documentation of system processes, configurations, and changes,
    promoting knowledge sharing and consistent best practices.
