Mesa seeks a motivated Project Engineer to manage large multi-discipline Renewable projects (wind, solar, BESS, hybrid). This role will augment our existing and growing Renewable team that currently supports several clients ranging from utilities and energy developers to EPC contractors. The position requires approximately 50% technical project work (PE License required) and 50% project management. Responsibilities will include technical review of design deliverables, coordinating between discipline, communication and collaboration with the client's project managers and project engineers, as well as collaborating and working with other design teams from external consultants.

Required abilities:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of large renewable projects (greater than 20 MW) and the expected design deliverables to support these projects.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to coordinate with and interface with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and other electric utilities personnel.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, peers, and affiliates.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
  • Possesses ability to understand and implement new processes/procedures with regards to Project and Program management.
  • Knowledgeable regarding the technical Project Management expectations for development, analysis, design, interconnection, and construction of large renewable projects.
  • Experience with wind, solar, BESS, and high voltage substation equipment, systems and projects.
  • Believes effective integration is the key to project success.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
  • 8-10 years of relevant project experience 
  • Has multi-year experience leading renewable design projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Propose on Projects:  Review and evaluate technical RFPs and help develop proposals and cost estimates for engineering analysis, power system studies, and detailed design.
  • Initiate projects: Complete project initiation documents, which include detailed work scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion. 
  • Project Definition:  Assist Project Team in defining/clarifying project scope and level of detail required to satisfy customer expectations and project requirements.
  • Manage Project Implementation – Lead the assigned project teams and subcontractors to ensure that project goals/objectives are achieved and the expected deliverables are aligned with the scope and client needs.
  • Perform some technical reviews of completed project work to check for errors.
  • Possibly serve as Engineer of Record for project  deliverables.
  • Communicates effectively with project team, subcontractor, and clients as required to facilitate coordination of design or construction activities and flow of technical information. This includes tracking/resolving action items, information requests and assisting the design team in the resolution of technical issues as required.  
  • Must be able to conduct large meetings/calls with numerous project stakeholders, drive consensus and resolution to challenges discussed, drive assignment, follow-up, and completion, of action items.

Annual salary range:

$109,561.32-$151,295.77

The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department’s fiscal resources.
