Role Description
The Associate Engineer is responsible for independently developing, analyzing, and supporting engineering designs for VIP aircraft interior completion, refurbishment, modification, and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects. This position applies advanced engineering principles to create certifiable aircraft interior, structural, mechanical, and systems modifications while ensuring compliance with FAA, EASA, customer, and company requirements.

Essential Job Functions
Independently develop engineering designs and modifications in support of VIP aircraft interior completions, refurbishments, maintenance modifications, and STC projects.
Create, review, and approve detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models utilizing approved engineering software and company drafting standards.
Perform engineering analysis and substantiation activities supporting interior furnishings, aircraft structures, mechanical systems, avionics installations, and aircraft modifications.
Develop engineering reports, compliance documentation, certification data packages, installation instructions, and technical presentations.
Coordinate engineering activities with Production, Program Management, Certification, Quality, Procurement, and external suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
Support aircraft installation activities by resolving engineering discrepancies, fit, form, and function issues, and manufacturing challenges.
Interface with FAA, EASA, Design Organization Approval (DOA) representatives, Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), and other regulatory authorities as required.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations regarding certification, manufacturability, maintainability, and aircraft integration.
Develop engineering change orders, design revisions, and corrective actions as required.
Review engineering documentation for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company standards.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Associate Engineers and junior engineering staff.
Assist Engineering Leadership with project planning, workload forecasting, and resource allocation activities.
Maintain working knowledge of FAA, EASA, and international certification requirements applicable to transport category aircraft.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, design standards, documentation quality, and project execution.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline or 10 years' experience in aviation component, interior or systems design.
Minimum of 5-8 years of engineering experience in aircraft completions, aerospace, aviation, aircraft modification, certification, or a related technical field.
Experience supporting aircraft interior completion projects, STC development, aircraft modifications, or transport category aircraft certification activities.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, certification requirements, and aircraft maintenance documentation.

Required Skills and Abilities
Advanced proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software; AutoCAD required and SolidWorks preferred.
Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, manufacturing methods, and aircraft installation practices.
Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements, including 14 CFR Part 25 and associated advisory materials.
Experience developing engineering drawings, reports, compliance documentation, and certification substantiation packages.
Ability to independently manage engineering assignments and technical deliverables with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively coordinate activities across Engineering, Production, Certification, Program Management, and Quality organizations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
Experience supporting customer meetings, design reviews, and technical presentations preferred.
Aviation, aerospace, aircraft completion, or aircraft modification experience strongly preferred.
