Job description

Position Summary: We're looking for a Rigging Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting lifting, rigging, heavy transport, and specialized project solutions across Canada. In this role, you'll develop engineered lift plans, crane studies, rigging arrangements, below-the-hook lifting devices, and other custom solutions that help safely execute complex projects.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working closely with operations teams, and seeing designs move from concept to successful execution in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineered lift plans, rigging studies, and transportation plans for complex projects.
  • Design below-the-hook lifting devices, including spreader bars, lift beams, and personnel work platforms.
  • Prepare crane lift studies and equipment selection analyses.
  • Create 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings to support project execution.
  • Review and revise engineering drawings, calculations, and design packages.
  • Provide engineering support to project and operations teams throughout project planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with project teams to communicate progress, resolve technical challenges, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Interpret and maintain as-built drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Perform engineering analyses to ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Support project goals related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Review and improve engineering standards, drafting templates, and design processes.
  • Conduct site visits and field assessments as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, accountability, innovation, and professionalism.
  • Work safely in industrial environments that may include exposure to heights, moving machinery, electrical systems, and other operational hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA, EGBC, APEGS, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM), or PEO.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering or design experience in a related role.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Product Design Suite and 3D CAD modeling.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Mathcad and RISA is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with mobile cranes, rigging, lifting systems, heavy hauling, jack-and-slide operations, or heavy transportation projects.
  • Experience developing engineered lift plans and rigging studies.
  • Familiarity with structural steel design and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience working in industrial, construction, energy, mining, or heavy civil environments.
