Job description

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Dometic Marine's facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.
We are on a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Product Manager. This position reports to the General Manager and will work in Sparta, TN.
About the position
As Product Manager of the Sparta team, you will be involved in working closely with our PD, Operation and Sales team to develop new rotomolded fuel tank variants for OEM customers and new roto and blow molded product offering for AM Retail customers.
Your Main Responsibilities
  • Be the products/product portfolio owner for growth and profitability of outdoor recreational roto and blow molded products with primary focus on marine fuel tanks
  • Responsible for product competitiveness and manage complexity by ensuring the right product family offering for the market, manage product life cycle, proposes end-of-life, and drive modularization.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the markets, customer experiences, needs, segmentation, and competitor offerings
  • Support product development prioritization based on input from the market, develop end-to-end product business plan, and identify needs for investment to ensure right products are built right
  • Identify and fill product gaps and generate innovative ideas that grow market share
  • Support sales and marketing function in defining product positioning, USPs (Unique Selling Points), product branding, selling content, and value-based selling
  • Develop strong working relationship with key partner customers
  • Develop and manage product vision white papers, roadmap, presentations, and formal business cases
  • Create buy-in for the product vision internally and externally with key partner customers
  • Define mechanical and electrical product requirements
  • Develop and set strategic pricing guardrails per segment, ensure appropriate relative product prices, follow up on price realization for sales force to deliver, discounting, manage life-cycle pricing and market positioning
  • Conduct margin analysis, industry/market research, and in-life performance measurement to determine product demand, positioning, viability, and profitability
  • Act as an internal voice of the customer for the development team
  • Drive product launch priorities including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members
  • Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed
  • Act as a product subject matter expert to build awareness and understanding
  • Represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on products and services
  • Look for field feedback and warranty information and drive for product continuous improvement
  • Pre-empt potential problems and provide effective solutions in reaction to the application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes developed to support the new product or product change

Skills & Requirements
A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and product management as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
  • University degree or certification in engineering or a technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in engineering, marketing, or product management capacity
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint; and the ability to learn other applications quickly
  • Excellent customer service and management skills
  • Proficient at merchandizing and promoting products to target markets
  • Able to analyze target markets and develop forecasts based on applicable data
  • Ability to summarize data for a broader audience
