PROJECT ENGINEER I
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Project Engineer will assist with the scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing of technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality installation projects at customer sites. Assist in the preparation of operating manuals for new installations.
A Project Engineer is responsible for:
  • Interfacing with key stakeholders (customers, vendors, contractors, Compass Sales engineering staff, and others) to ensure project objectives are achieved in the most efficient manner possible
  • Utilizing engineering knowledge to provide the necessary technical and detail project support
  • Lead project engineering and system design process and obtain sign off on project engineering drawings as needed
  • Communicating engineering and project changes to Project Management, Compass Systems management, and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring proper use of applicable engineering standards and work processes
  • Helping develop, manage, and improve procedures to promote safe and efficient work processes and designs
  • Simplify work processes and eliminate non-value-added work
  • Complete projects per the project schedule and requests from customers with strong focus on achieving project budget commitments
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and contractors

This position requires a combination of engineering knowledge, organizational skills, and project management abilities that include strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
TRAVEL: This role includes approximately 25% travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • 2 or more years of related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, and manufacturing materials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, Autodesk Inventor, and Microsoft applications (including MS Project)
  • Design engineering experience for proper and efficient standard design
  • Experience in managing standard customer installations or modifications to existing systems from the proposal phase through implementation
  • Ability to evaluate quotation for scope of work changes
  • Evaluate vendors and supplied equipment for correct operation and usage
  • Review System design before release to manufacturing
  • Exposure to and knowledge of pneumatics is preferred, but not required.
