Job description

Water & Air Research, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Engineer to join ourEnvironmental Services team. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an early-careerengineer to develop technical expertise in the assessment and remediation of petroleum-contaminatedsites while working alongside experienced Project Managers and senior technical staff.

The Entry-Level Engineer assists with planning and executing environmental investigations, fieldactivities, technical analyses, and report preparation while gaining experience with the FloridaDepartment of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP).

Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with environmental assessment and remediation projects from planning through completion.
  • Perform field work including groundwater, soil, and remediation system sampling in accordance with FDEP Standard Operating Procedures under varying weather conditions and occasional travel throughout Florida.
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities including drilling operations, monitoring well installations, remediation system installations, and subcontractor activities.
  • Prepare field documentation, calibration records, and quality assurance/quality control documentation.
  • Analyze environmental data and assist in evaluating site conditions and remediation alternatives.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, database management, and project organization.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project team members.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and web-based office interfaces (such as Google Workspace).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel based on project needs.
Preferred
  • Experience with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP).
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with groundwater and soil sampling.
  • Familiarity with environmental data analysis, technical report preparation, and environmental field equipment including PID/FID instruments.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and field activities.
