Job description

Aon is looking for an Associate Partner, Human Capital M&A Solutions – Multiple Locations New York, Chicago, San Francisco

The Practice:

Aon’s Human Capital M&A team partners with organizations undertaking significant change events driven by global transactions and business transformations, including M&A, divestitures, IPOs, and joint ventures! We bring deep global expertise across the HR operating environment – spanning global benefits, compensation, employment, talent, organization design, culture due diligence and integration, workforce planning, HR risk assessments, and other strategic people-related projects - to help clients successfully navigate complex deals and transformations. This role reports to the Human Capital M&A Leader, North America.

Aon is in the business of better decisions

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

What the day will look like

The Associate Partner will be based in North America and will be accountable for driving the strategic direction, operational effectiveness and financial performance of complex human capital solutions for clients undergoing significant change events. This includes supporting and leading workstreams on engagements related to global M&A, divestitures, IPOs, joint ventures and other strategic transactions, as well as broader business transformations. The Associate Partner will be a senior contributor in the human capital M&A consulting profession, with strong knowledge across multiple HR fields (e.g., global benefits, compensation, talent, employment, organization design, culture, workforce planning) and a solid understanding of Aon’s core businesses. We are looking for inspired leadership, deep content expertise, and a desire to drive growth in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.

The Associate Partner will help develop, nurture and maintain executive-level relationships and will quickly become a trusted partner and advisor to many of Aon’s important clients, often working alongside senior leaders/Partners. Associate Partners at Aon have the capability and expertise to act as a “first chair” on defined components of large, sophisticated, multi-functional client assignments and to coordinate across multiple partners and workstreams. This is also a hands-on role where you will take ownership, prioritize the work, and roll up your sleeves on a technical level - from structuring human capital M&A work-plans and HR due diligence through to designing integration, separation and value-capture plans across the HR operating environment.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Establish and sustain trusted relationships with client partners, including Csuite and HR leadership, serving as a strategic advisor on human capital issues in the context of global transactions and transformations
  • Demonstrate strong executive presence and facilitation skills to lead major client-facing consulting engagements and workstreams within complex, multi-workstream deal programs
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the complexities and risks associated with global M&A transactions (including diligence, planning and execution across buy-side, sell-side, carve-outs and joint ventures)
  • Demonstrate deep experience and knowledge of Total Rewards and other sectors within the Human Capital space (e.g., global benefits, compensation, talent, HR operating model, culture, organization design, workforce and location strategy) in a deal and transformation context
  • Commercialize new ideas by shaping, packaging and scaling Human Capital M&A solutions that are repeatable, differentiated and delivered with appropriate margins, in close collaboration with senior team members
  • A subject matter expert who can credibly lead complex client discussions within defined domains and coach project teams across multiple fields.
  • A strategic planner who can connect human capital priorities to transaction objectives, value creation and risk mitigation, and translate strategy into executable work-plans
  • Collaborative and highly engaged, able to lead and work effectively with cross-functional teams across Aon and within client organizations
  • An effective communicator, able to translate complex human capital and deal issues into clear, actionable recommendations for senior partners
  • Innovative, with a strong orientation toward continuous improvement, solution development and employing data/analytics where possible
  • Accountable and self-aware, with strong ownership, sound judgment and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, results-focused environment
  • An influencer who can drive alignment and decision-making across diverse collaborators in both client and internal settings
  • A relationshipfocused advisor who invests in long-term client partnerships and helps expand Aon’s presence across accounts and lines of business

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Human Resources or other relevant fields
  • Minimum 10 to 15+ years of relevant work experience, ideally including considerable exposure to global M&A or other complex transaction and transformation environments
  • Other project management certifications, SHRM certifications, CPA, Six Sigma certifications, or similar credentials are advantageous but not required
