HDR is hiring a Construction Inspector to work as a member of our Florida CEI (Construction Engineering and Inspection) program. This is a great opportunity to work on fast-paced, short duration projects within Florida. The inspector will primarily work independently on FDOT projects consisting of milling and resurfacing, bridge construction, signalization, earthwork operations, stripping operations, and final estimate preparation. They will interact on a daily basis with FDOT Project Administrators and other FDOT personnel. This a terrific opportunity for candidates looking to advance their career in inspection with upward mobility and long-term employment with a fast-growing program and employee-owned company. This position will be located in Miami, Florida area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Position will include some night, holiday, and weekend work, and qualified candidates must be willing to work as needed on these occasions
  • Technical School or associate's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection is preferred
  • Local candidates are strongly preferred 
  • Industry certifications that are strongly preferred include:
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level 1 
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Levels I 
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection 
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I 
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I 
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT 
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety, Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors 
  • Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course 
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges) 
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection 
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection 
Required Qualifications
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
  • A minimum of 3 years experience
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
