Job Summary

The Sales Engineer partners with Sales Executives to provide technical support throughout the sales cycle for prospective and existing customers. This role is responsible for understanding customer requirements, assisting in the design of appropriate solutions, and clearly communicating the technical value of company offerings. The Sales Engineer works closely with senior engineers, product teams, and operations to support successful solution development and service delivery. This position is ideal for a technically strong professional looking to grow technical sales skills and progress into a senior sales engineering role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Sales Executives during the sales cycle by providing technical analysis, recommendations, and solution support.
  • Assist in gathering customer technical requirements and translating them into viable service solutions.
  • Help design network and infrastructure solutions aligned with customer needs and internal standards.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, diagrams, and documentation for customer meetings and proposals.
  • Contribute to responses for RFPs and RFQs under the guidance of senior sales engineers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Operations to validate solution designs.
  • Review service orders for accuracy and participate in service kickoff meetings as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of company products, services, and competitive offerings.
  • Document customer requirements, solution designs, and sales activities in CRM tools.
  • Continuously build technical expertise through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, IT, or a technical support or pre-sales role.
  • Foundational understanding of networking technologies such as Ethernet, IP routing, Layer 1-Layer 3 concepts, and basic WAN/LAN architectures.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as MPLS, Dark Fiber, DWDM, SD-WAN, SIP, or UCaaS is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Basic experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) or willingness to learn.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting sales teams in a customer-facing technical role.
  • Entry-level or associate-level industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+).
  • Exposure to cloud services (IaaS, SaaS) or data center networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with basic network diagrams, logical/topological drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings or training as required.
