Job description

Associate Scientist / Scientist - xRNA Process Sciences

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join a growing Process Sciences team focused on the development and manufacture of xRNA therapeutics, including mRNA, saRNA, and circular RNA (circRNA). This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on scientist with experience in RNA production, process development, and purification to contribute to cutting-edge therapeutic programs. The successful candidate will support and execute in vitro transcription (IVT) processes, downstream purification activities, analytical characterization, and process optimization efforts. Working within a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will play a key role in advancing xRNA manufacturing processes from development through technology transfer and scale-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute in vitro transcription (IVT) reactions across a range of scales, from laboratory-scale experiments through to larger-scale production.
  • Support the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of IVT and downstream purification processes.
  • Perform RNA purification using chromatography systems, including AKTA-based purification workflows.
  • Conduct Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) operations and support process scale-up activities.
  • Evaluate and optimize buffer conditions to improve purification performance and product quality.
  • Perform analytical testing to assess RNA purity, integrity, and concentration using techniques such as Fragment Analyzer, capillary electrophoresis, gel electrophoresis, UV spectroscopy, and NanoDrop.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support successful technology transfer and process implementation for client programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and laboratory procedures.
  • Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), laboratory safety standards, and biosafety requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support additional scientific activities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience; or a Master's degree with relevant hands-on experience.
  • Practical experience in xRNA process development, including mRNA, saRNA, or circRNA manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro transcription (IVT) processes and RNA production workflows.
  • Experience with chromatography-based purification systems, particularly AKTA platforms.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) processes.
  • Experience supporting process optimization, technology transfer, and/or scale-up activities.
  • Familiarity with analytical characterization techniques, including Fragment Analyzer, Bioanalyzer, capillary electrophoresis, gel electrophoresis, UV spectroscopy, and NanoDrop.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety procedures, biosafety requirements, and GMP/biopharmaceutical manufacturing principles.
