Job Description:
The client is seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership, engineering, operational support, and strategic advisory services for enterprise Microsoft cloud environments supporting the client. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, optimizing, and maintaining Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Purview environments while ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53, Zero Trust Architecture, and FedRAMP Moderate requirements.
The Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer will serve as a trusted technical advisor, supporting cloud modernization initiatives, security architecture implementation, identity and access management, cloud operations, collaboration platforms, compliance activities, and operational continuity across client''s Microsoft ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, operate, and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Security services.
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Zero Trust security controls.
- Manage Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft collaboration services.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-207, and FedRAMP Moderate requirements.
- Engineer and support hybrid Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Manage Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, device compliance policies, and endpoint security for Windows, macOS, and iOS devices.
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Purview, and related security services.
- Support Azure infrastructure, networking, workload deployment, and hybrid integrations.
- Develop Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions for cloud health, utilization, compliance, and spending analysis.
- Support incident response, disaster recovery planning, change management, audit activities, and compliance reviews.
- Develop technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cloud engineering and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience supporting enterprise Microsoft environments.
- Minimum 7 years of experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud platforms.
- Minimum 5 years of experience implementing Zero Trust, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and cloud security solutions.
- Experience supporting federal or highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated expertise with hybrid Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, Intune, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Defender, Sentinel, and Purview.
- Experience implementing cloud governance, security monitoring, compliance controls, and risk mitigation frameworks.
- Ability to perform independently and serve as a senior technical advisor.
Required Certifications
Candidates must possess current Microsoft certifications equivalent to or exceeding the following:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Information Security Administrator Associate
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Congressional, Legislative Branch, or Federal Civilian agencies.
- Experience with PowerShell automation and Microsoft Graph API integrations.
- Experience supporting environments with 700+ endpoints.
- Experience implementing MFA, FIDO2, Smart Card authentication, and privileged access controls.
- Familiarity with Azure cost management, FinOps practices, and cloud budget forecasting.
