Job description

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) seeks an IT Auditor to plan, coordinate, and conduct IT security audits for participating customer agencies within the Commonwealth Security and Risk Management Division. The role involves developing audit plans, evaluating compliance with policies and frameworks, performing data analysis, and providing risk mitigation recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness. The position requires advanced work with considerable discretion in making audit recommendations and serving as a resource to senior officials on sensitive matters.

Key qualifications
  • Considerable experience as an IT Auditor in public accounting or internal audit department following GAAS
  • Experience with Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and/or International Professional Practices Framework (Red Book)
  • In-depth knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security Standard SEC530 and/or NIST 800-53
  • Experience performing control evaluations of IT infrastructure, operating systems, network components, and business applications
  • Proficiency drafting professional audit reports with minimal revision
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Information Systems Auditor
