Inventory Specialist Job Description 
Key Responsibilities
  • Cycle Counting: Conducting routine physical counts of products and performing daily or weekly audits.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Reconciling any differences between physical counts and system records to prevent shrinkage and losses.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Receiving incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, and logging items into databases.  Packaging, labeling and shipping finished goods.
  • Stock Management: Organizing storage spaces and managing stock rotation (e.g., first-in, first-out) to ensure product freshness and accessibility.  Order and Manage purchased input material, Disposition legacy material.  
  • Replenishment: Monitoring inventory levels and placing restock orders as needed.
  • Reporting: Compiling data on turnover rates, stock levels, and obsolete inventory for management.  
Requirements & Skills
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is generally the minimum requirement, though some employers prefer an associate's degree in logistics or supply chain management. 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in word processing, database systems, and spreadsheet software (like Microsoft Excel). Experience with modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and RF scanners is highly valued.
