Job Summary: Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of Tempur mattresses; purchases and expedites parts; and ensures customer service by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:
Primary duties and responsibilities include the items below; however, Management reserves the right to assign or reassign other appropriate duties to this job at any time. This document excludes the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.
• Follow all safety guidelines and participate as fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
• Monitors production schedules, inventory reports and work orders to determine the type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority.
• Responsible for firming, releasing, manual entry and distribution of production orders.
• Confers with production personnel to determine status of assigned projects.
• Plans and schedules workflow f or each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Responsible for entering purchase orders, faxing, coordinating delivery and follow-up such purchase orders and RMA's with appropriate vendors.
• Minimal customer service duties-fulfills customer needs to ensure customer satisfaction
• Utilize, create and maintain tracking, status and information tools, (either system generated or spreadsheets) for purchased or manufactured parts.
• Coordinate and maintain inventory records via monthly inventory or cycle count processes.
• Place orders for materials with suppliers or other plants in order to obtain both on-time shipment and inventory goals.
• Monitor and track status of orders and communicate with suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be capable of performing each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements herein are the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• Associate's or other 2-year degree, plus five years of directly related experience as a materials planner, scheduler, or similar in a manufacturing environment (component manufacturing preferred). Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Hands-on experience as a planner, scheduler or similar function within an MRP or ERP.
• Familiarity with MPS, supply chain, inventory management, JIP/KANBAN processes and procedures is preferred.

• Expert knowledge of Excel, to include demonstrated, practical mastery of macros, formulas, external source referencing and other analytical functions.
• Successful candidate must be highly meticulous, detail oriented, and able to solve complex problems with multiple variables (such as multiple suppliers, arrival dates, logistics, etc.) and deal with a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
• Language skill requirements: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, customers and suppliers. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• Intermediate math skills are needed to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations; ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks associated with the production of mattresses. Must be able to measure using the metric system

• Infrequent use of forklift and material handling equipment may be necessary
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• Must be able to identify color.
• The employee is required to sit, stand and walk frequently; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands or arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders or stairs.
