Job description

Elite Business Resources is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to support one of our industrial manufacturing clients. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize production downtime. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and experienced in maintenance planning within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including creating, prioritizing, assigning, tracking, and closing work orders.
  • Develop and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to ensure maintenance activities are completed on time.
  • Plan maintenance jobs by identifying labor requirements, materials, tools, equipment, and estimated completion times.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and inventory personnel to ensure all required parts and materials are available before scheduled maintenance begins.
  • Monitor work order backlogs and prioritize maintenance activities based on operational and safety needs.
  • Maintain detailed equipment histories, repair records, failure data, and maintenance documentation.
  • Generate weekly and monthly maintenance reports, including PM compliance, work order completion, backlog status, labor utilization, and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance outages and equipment shutdowns with operations and maintenance teams to minimize production interruptions.
  • Analyze equipment performance and maintenance data to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to maintenance programs.
  • Maintain maintenance procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) documentation, equipment files, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with planning capital projects, contractor scheduling, and maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Support root cause investigations by providing maintenance records and equipment history.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's degree in Business, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or maintenance coordination within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and equipment reliability principles.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze maintenance data and produce meaningful reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams.
Preferred
  • Experience in lumber, wood products, paper mill, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
  • Experience supporting maintenance shutdowns and capital improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with inventory control and maintenance spare parts management.
