Job description

Position Summary Join a team dedicated to transforming lives through education, community, learning, and integrity. Ogden-Weber Technical College (OWTC) is seeking an enthusiastic and industry-savvy Business Instructor to inspire and prepare the next generation of business professionals. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical instruction to students enrolled in OWTC's Business Program, teaching a variety of software platforms, communication technologies, and marketing techniques.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of best business practices across diverse professional environments, including proficiency with business software, leadership and management principles, basic financial and accounting concepts, and effective written, verbal, and digital communication. Working collaboratively with program faculty, you will support student success through program completion, placement, and licensure outcomes while fostering a positive learning community. Additionally, you will partner with the Program Coordinator to develop curriculum and strengthen relationships with local employers and educational partners, ensuring our students receive relevant, high-quality training that reflects industry needs and upholds the integrity and excellence of OWTC.

The incumbent works under the direction of the Business Coordinator. Essential Functions 1. Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records and verification of competencies.

2. Assist the program coordinator to develop and teach new curriculum and instructional methodologies to increase student success. 3.

Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure. 4. Advise students in the areas of program and college expectations, appropriate work behavior, and dress standards.

Assist administration and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success. 5. Assist the Program Coordinator in maintaining contact with local employers, seeking feedback to continuously improve program curricula and training facilities to meet industry standards in support of completion, placement, and licensure.

6. Assist the program coordinator with maintaining program budgets and maintaining program assets. 7.

Complete assignments within established timelines 8. Attend programmatic and college team meetings, college marketing events, and participate in programmatic accreditation. 9.

Work cooperatively with the college community and with all college stakeholders. Represent the college community in a professional manner. 10.

Other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience: Required 1. Minimum of four (4) years of a combination of related work experience and postsecondary education in the business or closely related field, to include a minimum of two (2) years of professional industry employment in the business or closely related field.

2. Proficient in the latest versions of software or equipment such as business productivity software, basic financial and accounting principles, marketing, human resources, leadership, and communication skills. 3.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as other computer software applications. Education and Experience: Preferred 1. Preference will be given to those individuals that have teaching and curriculum development experience.

2. Preference will be given to those individuals that have an associate degree or higher in business, marketing, human resources, management, or closely related field. Physical Requirements: 1.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. 2.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Additional Information WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with rotational evenings CONDITIONAL OFFER: A conditional offer of employment will be made pending satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
