Position Duties The Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill multiple vacancies in the Infrastructure Maintenance division

Salary range(s) for this classification is/are: Construction Inspector I: $78,514.80 - $95,659.20 Construction Inspector II: $88,866.96 - $108,217.20 Associate Inspector: $100,332.96 - $121,954.56 This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience

Inspection and Contract Management Construction Inspector's key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Contract management, spending/tracking budget appropriations, and contractor coordination efforts Reviewing and verifying accuracy of invoices Preparing documents to pay contractor invoices Visually inspecting projects Validating work of contractors in the field Maintaining daily inspection logs and photos Ensuring all work is completed according to City of San Jose standards and specifications Coordinating new projects with Public Works inspectors and DOT's structure & Landscape Designer Mitigating conflicts with residents, businesses and contractors Minimum Qualifications Construction Inspector I: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate). Construction Inspector II: Education: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate) AND Experience: Two (2) years of construction trades or construction inspection experience. Associate Construction Inspector: Education: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate) AND Experience: Four (4) years of construction trades or construction inspection experience, including two (2) years in any combination of the following: construction or infrastructure inspection, drafting or reviewing plans and specifications, materials sampling and testing, traffic engineering, or surveying.

Acceptable Substitution: Completion of an Associate Degree in engineering technology, construction management or closely related field from an accredited junior college or two (2) years of college coursework in engineering technology or related subjects courses may be substituted for two (2) years of the construction trades or construction inspection experience. Certification/Licenses Possession of a valid State of California driver's license. Other Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, as demonstrated in past and current employment history.

Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills: Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills. Selection Process: The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant's training and experience based on the application and responses to all the job specific questions.
