AGS has been processing and shipping high quality, wild caught fresh and frozen seafood since 1996. AGS processes Halibut, Salmon, Rockfish, True Cod, Blackcod, Sea Cucumbers, Crab and Shrimp, which is packaged and shipped worldwide. The Refrigeration Technician will be required to live in Juneau, Alaska, as our plant operates year-round. They will coordinate, operate, repair and maintain all refrigeration-related equipment handling various types of Freon systems with reciprocating and screw compressors. They must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. They should have the ability to work independently and as a team. They must be able to work well under pressure and prioritize the workload. They must be able to verbalize equipment needs and instructions easily to all workgroups within the company.

Responsibilities ><(((*>

  • Maintain Refrigeration equipment and keep in good working order
  • Install, service, and repair refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, and evaporators
  • Connect refrigeration lines and electrical power sources, handling hazardous refrigerant substances, and checking systems and equipment for leaks
  • Inspect, adjust and monitor refrigeration system for most efficient means of operation
  • Maintain daily preventive maintenance log records of the system
  • Apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests to ensure the systems are working properly following repairs
  • Upgrade systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards
  • Service plant calls promptly
  • Accompany representative of State and Federal Inspectors
  • Train back up refrigeration operator
  • Accurate on paperwork

You will work 40-80 hours per week.

  • Understands the operations of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems
  • Diagnosing malfunctions and defects in equipment
  • Reading blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics
  • Grasping electrical concepts
  • Operating tools, gauges and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges and precision instruments, welding equipment, jacks and hoists
  • Operate/monitor the computer-based refrigeration system and monitoring device and Process Safety Manage documentation
  • Risk Manage Plan (RPM) training

Qualifications ><(((*>

Education:

  • Minimum of two years' experience working with HVAC/Refrigeration/Electrical systems
  • Desire Associate Degree in HVACR/Refrigeration/Electrical
  • Special Skills: HAZMAT, and Low Voltage Control Systems
  • OSHA, Good Manufacturing Processes, PSM, and RMP
  • OSHA Level A Hazmat Certification
  • OSHA HAZMAT, Incident Command Training
  • RETA (CARO) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator Certification
  • PSM Certified
  • Current Alaska Driver License with clean record

  • Ability to use and climb a ladder to multiple levels
  • Must be on call 24 hours 7 days a week during peak season
