Join the Pirate Nation! The Department of Engineering offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering built around a multidisciplinary core with concentrations in biochemical, biomedical, electrical, civil and environmental, industrial and systems, and mechanical engineering. The department includes approximately 28 faculty members serving over 400 students. Faculty teaching and scholarship spans health care, energy, advanced manufacturing, environmental systems, engineering education, and other areas of societal importance. ECU Engineering is distinguished by its student-centered, hands-on approach: small classes and laboratories are taught by faculty, design experiences begin in the first year, and the curriculum culminates in a two-semester capstone project addressing a real-world challenge for an industry or campus partner. Established in 2004 in response to regional workforce needs, the department maintains strong connections with employers and university partners, including ECU's health sciences programs, while preparing versatile engineers to contribute across disciplines and industries. Job Duties
The Department of Engineering in the College of Engineering and Technology at East Carolina University is seeking applicants and nominations for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor position. The successful candidate will balance teaching, research, and service in support of the department's academic programs and mission. The candidate will (1) teach undergraduate engineering courses and laboratories in areas aligned with the candidate's expertise and departmental needs, with teaching flexibility across mechanical and biochemical engineering, as well as the common engineering core, particularly valued; (2) develop and sustain an active research program with the potential to attract external funding and produce peer-reviewed scholarship; (3) mentor students through research, design projects, experiential learning, and professional development activities; (4) advise engineering students and contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement in support of accreditation; (5) collaborate with faculty and students across the department, college, and university on interdisciplinary teaching and research initiatives; and (6) provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and broader community.

Minimum Education/Experience
Candidates must have a terminal degree in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution or a foreign equivalent. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
