Intellectual Property Patent Litigation Associate Attorney (Life Sciences)

Direct Counsel is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent Litigation Associate Attorney (Life Sciences) to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Irvine (Orange County), Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Seattle, Silicon Valley (Menlo Park), or Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 2-7 years of patent litigation experience to join a nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice focused on life sciences. The team represents leading biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences companies in complex, high-stakes patent disputes from pre-trial through appeal.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in life sciences patent litigation in federal courts and other forums.

  • Handle all phases of patent litigation, including pleadings, fact and expert discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals.

  • Draft substantive motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation filings.

  • Conduct legal and technical research involving complex life sciences technologies.

  • Work closely with scientific experts, inventors, and corporate clients to develop litigation strategies.

  • Analyze patent portfolios and scientific data in support of litigation matters.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on sophisticated intellectual property disputes.

  • Manage multiple complex matters while providing exceptional client service.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the state bar of the office where the attorney will be located.

  • 2-7 years of intellectual property litigation experience, including at least 2 years of life sciences patent litigationexperience.

  • Experience drafting briefs and participating in all phases of fact and expert discovery.

  • Technical background in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or a related life sciences discipline is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and advocacy skills.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong academic credentials with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
