Job Description:
The Professional-in-Residence will be an experienced Artificial Intelligence practitioner who bridges academic instruction with current industry practice. This role delivers undergraduate and graduate courses in applied machine learning, generative AI, agentic systems, and cloud- and GPU-based AI infrastructure, ensuring students gain workforce-ready skills aligned with rapidly evolving technologies. The position also collaborates on research initiatives, contributes to externally funded projects, and mentors students in applied AI research and development while strengthening connections between the department and industry.
75% Teach undergraduate and graduate-level AI courses aligned with current and emerging industry practices, including applied machine learning, generative AI, agentic systems, cloud- and GPU-based AI infrastructure, and enterprise AI deployment.
25% Support and collaborate on research initiatives, contribute to externally funded projects, and mentor students in applied AI research and development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in computer science or related discipline and 8 years of related experience.
Candidates with significant professional experience who do not currently possess the required terminal degree may still be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D in Computer Science or related discipline and 10 or more years of related experience. Hands-on expertise in modern AI tool chains, scalable systems, and industry partnerships, as well as the ability to translate complex concepts into practical, workforce-ready skills while advancing the institution's AI teaching and research mission.
