Job description

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a full-time Clinic Assistant II to join our Stark Outpatient Clinic in Minneapolis, MN. This position is a vital point of contact for consumers seeking and receiving services at our outpatient mental health clinics. This includes welcoming visitors, providing non-clinical information, collecting co-pays, entering health insurance and consumer demographic information into the electronic health record, appointment scheduling as needed, and general administrative support for the clinic.

Schedule: Monday–Friday (8am - 4:30pm)

Location: Stark Mental Health Clinic (2120 Park Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404) (In-office position)

Hiring Range: $22.00 - $23.50/Hourly based on qualifications

Main Job Duties:

  • Works on-site each workday.
  • Demonstrate advanced level customer service skills to clients/visitors in the clinic and virtually.
  • Generate advanced level correspondence, statistical information, reports, meeting minutes and other general administrative support to the program.
  • Consistently greet clients in a respectful manner and demonstrate professional telephone and email etiquette.
  • Monitor telephone queue and voicemails closely to ensure client phone calls are answered in a timely manner.
  • Schedule appointments as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Verify and complete necessary information for new consumer registration, including the collection of consumer demographics, insurance information and completion of appropriate forms, questionnaires, and/or other paperwork.
  • Enter consumer information into the electronic health record accurately and timely.
  • Identify and accurately collect co-pays or appropriate fees.
  • Serve as a role model within the clinic area to support the mission of People Incorporated
  • Leads special projects and/or initiatives within team as directed by Clinic Office Manager
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. These essential duties include:
• Passing all background and credentialing requirements for facility and position; and
• The ability to pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure that person has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
• Must have a valid and current driver’s license and auto insurance, if applicable

Required Qualifications:
• Associates in Arts degree
• Graduate of a formal training program in medical reception, customer service or equivalent
• One year experience as a receptionist, scheduler, or administrative assistant in a medical or clinic setting.
• One year experience working with individuals who have mental illness.
• In lieu of an associate's in arts degree and one year of prior experience as a receptionist, scheduler, or administrative assistant in a medical or clinic setting, a high school diploma and three years of this experience may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates with prior administrative support experience within a not-for-profit environment.
