Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking Part time Digital Media Arts Instructors to teach Digital Media Arts credit courses in the following areas:
• Graphic Design Technology (GDT)
• Photography (PHO)
• Video Production (VID)
• Audio (AUD)
• Animation (ANI)
Needs may become available each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, cover letter, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for teaching opportunities on a per course basis. Courses may be taught online.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
• Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
• Adhere to course syllabus and submission of any data needed to complete Assessment Reports.
• Evaluate student progress through day to day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation.
• Prepare and grade exams, assignments, and/or lab reports in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting all institutional deadlines for completion.
• Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.
• Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.
• Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
• Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
• Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities. Use such technologies in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule: Schedules vary according to class schedules. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Graphic Design Technology (GDT): Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Graphic Design or related field required. Related fields include, but are not limited to: Fine Arts, Advertising Design, Typography, Publication Design, Communication Arts, Graphic Communications, Visual Communications, Web Design, Interaction Design, Motion Graphics, Interactive Art, Digital Design, Print Design, Printmaking, Art & Design, Art Direction. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated professional work experience in graphic design or related field required. Professional experience related to course content as evidenced by portfolio review by WCC full-time faculty required.
• Photography (PHO): Master's degree from a regionally accredited Institution in Fine Arts, Photography or photo-related discipline or equivalent professional experience. Professional experience related to course content as evidenced by portfolio review by WCC full-time faculty required.
• Video Production (VID): Earned Associate in Arts or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Communication, Film, Video or Art required; BFA or MFA preferred. Demonstrated professional experience and expertise equivalent to bachelor's degree via portfolio review by WCC full-time faculty required.
• Audio (AUD): Earned Associate degree from a regionally-accredited institution in Audio Technology or closely-related field is required. Baccalaureate degree or higher as above preferred. Minimum 5 years experience in real world situations and/or work in a professional field related to the discipline is required (for example: Music business owner, union/licensed technician, producer with body of work in the audio field, award recipient in the field, extensive touring or professional experience in audio technology).
• Animation (ANI): Earned Associate in Arts or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Game Design, Digital Animation, Simulation, Gaming, Interactive Arts, Interaction Design, Motion Graphics, or Telecommunications required; BFA or MFA preferred. Demonstrated professional experience and expertise equivalent to bachelor's degree via portfolio review by WCC full- time faculty required.
