Job description

We're looking for a Molecular Lab Technician (MLT) to help with day-to-day screening procedures for our molecular testing laboratory.

We’re seeking a highly driven, motivated, and experienced Lab Technician that understands the PCR process, its importance, and work through each complex step with the upmost efficiency. The ideal Lab Technician will have patience, empathy, time management, and professionalism with patients, co-workers, and providers.

Job Responsibilities

· Evaluate specimens received and organize workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround time of results

· Extract, denature, and purify DNA/RNA from assorted specimen types

· Perform PCR sequencing methods

· Evaluate results to determine interference, inhibition, or other problems that arise during extraction, amplification, or sequencing of DNA

· Perform quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of clinical assays

· Maintain equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoot unexpected problems with equipment

· Record data to monitor temperatures of incubation equipment

· Operate complex equipment and computer programs related to equipment

· Maintain a neat and clean work environment

· Perform proficiency testing to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies

· Assist in writing and maintaining standard operating procedures for clinical assays

· Follow laboratory policies and procedures such as attendance and time reporting policies

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, OR Associate’s in Applied Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology

· 6 months work experience in a CLIA-accredited clinical laboratory preferred

· Ability to manage change, stand/walk for extended periods of time without resting, and to carry up to 20lbs in weight

Schedule:

Four 10-hour shifts Monday - Friday 9:00pm-7:30am. Either Tuesday or Wednesday Off.
