Met Council is America's largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. We fight poverty through comprehensive social services and by treating each client with compassion, integrity, and respect. Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and affiliated JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, entry-level Accounting Associate to support the invoice review function of Met Council's -SCN (Social Care Network) billing process. This role is responsible for reviewing -SCN invoices within the various platforms for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to payers. This position is well suited to a candidate early in their accounting career who is organized, comfortable with high-volume transactional review, and eager to build experience in healthcare/Medicaid billing within a nonprofit setting.

Principal Responsibilities:

SCN Invoice Review (Unite Us): 90% 100%

  • Review SCN service invoices within the Unite Us platform for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer requirements prior to submission.
  • Verify that supporting information aligns with billed services before invoices are submitted to payers.
  • Reach out directly to the billing team (screeners and navigators) to communicate errors, request corrections, and to the payer to follow up on details of payments and invoice status.
  • Flag discrepancies and missing information for review and resolution.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date records of invoice submissions to report to supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and billing data in accordance with organizational policy.

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with high volumes of transactional data.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently on repetitive review tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Familiarity with healthcare billing, Medicaid, or nonprofit revenue cycle concepts preferred.

Physical Demands:

2. Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs).

Compensation: $66,300 - $70,000 per year.
