Our client, a well-established manufacturing and industrial organization in Oakland County, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join their accounting team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and ERP systems while contributing to a company with a strong reputation and long-term stability.
This role offers hands-on involvement in daily accounting operations as well as exposure to a major ERP transition from JobBOSS to Epicor, providing valuable experience in process improvement and system implementation. Successful performance in this role may lead to a permanent hire opportunity.
What You'll Do
  • Process, code, and enter vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Review invoices for proper approvals, coding, and completeness.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing and payment tracking.
  • Follow up on past-due accounts and assist with collections efforts.
  • Support job closing activities by ensuring costs are captured and reconciled properly.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Support ERP conversion efforts, including data cleanup and migration to Epicor.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, project management, and operations teams to verify costs and gather supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist with reporting and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or project-based accounting experience.
  • Experience with job costing, job closing, or cost accounting.
  • Experience with JobBOSS or similar job-cost tracking software.
  • Familiarity with Epicor ERP or willingness to learn.
