Job description

CHEMetrics, located in Midland, VA, and a subsidiary of AquaPhoenix Scientific, has an immediate opening for a reliable and detailed-oriented Receiving and Warehouse Associate to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be part of a team that is responsible for supporting receiving, shipping, and general warehouse functions — including the movement, storage, and tracking of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods.

The Receiving and Warehouse Associate is a full-time, hourly position with full company benefits. This position does not have any direct management responsibility and has no direct reports. 

This hands-on position requires the drive and persistence to meet the following Company goals:

  • On-time attendance and flexibility throughout the day to assist as needed

AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Receiving and Warehouse Associate position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two or more years’ work experience in a shipping, logistics, warehousing, inventory or similar role. 

Although not all inclusive, additional responsibilities, expectations and skills will include:

  • Receive incoming shipments, inspect goods and accurately enter data into the ERP system.
  • Move materials between departments/locations, including hazardous materials and finished products.
  • Pull, prepare, and ship customer orders (loose cartons and pallets) ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Generate and manage shipping documentation: BOLs, invoices, packing slips and order tracking. 
  • Provide freight estimates to Customer Service as necessary 
  • Maintain organization of warehouse inventory, ensure materials are stored safely and properly.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely. 
  • Participate in facility upkeep, including snow removal, grounds maintenance and basic equipment repairs. 
  • Support facility systems and preventative maintenance activities (HVAC, compressed air, fire alarms, etc.)
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily goals and continuous improvement initiatives. 

 Additional qualities that help will ensure your success include: 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic math and analytical skills with high attention to detail. 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, bend, and perform physical tasks safely using proper ergonomic techniques. 
  • Willingness to obtain DOT, IATA and IMDG hazardous goods shipping and handling certification training. 
  • Ability to safely operate a hand-held industrial powered pallet jack/picker. 
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and adapt to changing business priorities. 
  • Commitment to safety standards such as GMP, OSHA, and ISO9001 compliance. 
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
