Working within Bitwarden's open-source ecosystem, you'll collaborate with a passionate community dedicated to transparency and trust in security software while contributing to our mission of making security accessible to everyone.

This is an all-remote team and we're looking for someone located in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of your work, partnering with QA to ensure that the appropriate parts of the application are tested and that tests are complete
  • Design and evolve APIs, data models, and encrypted report structures that hold up to real enterprise-scale data
  • Review PRs and provide constructive, pointed feedback to help fellow team members grow
  • Collaborate with the Bitwarden open-source community to review community contributions and address issues in GitHub

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • Extensive experience with .NET Core and C# for backend services
  • Strong proficiency with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS for front-end development
  • Deep understanding of relational database design, optimization, and SQL Server
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement RESTful APIs
  • Experience building features for enterprise customers where auditability, permissions, and compliance matter
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset with excellent communication skills
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and for better internet security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills – you might not know all the answers, but you know how to find and communicate the solution

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • User of Bitwarden
  • Startup experience
  • Experience with Rust, particularly for cross-platform SDK
  • Python, Splunk, or other SIEM platform experience (Datadog, Elastic, etc.) — we use Python in our Splunk app
  • Exposure to zero-knowledge or client-side-encrypted systems
  • Experience using Claude Code, or a similar generative AI coding platform

In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits.
