YOU MUST CURRENTLY BE EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF LOGAN TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.Under general direction, manages and administers the programs, services, and activities of the Logan City Library.The full-time schedule is 40 hours per week, including weekday, weekend, and evening shifts. For questions about this position, please contact Michael Sauers, Library Director, at michael.sauers@loganutah.gov or 435-716-9130.Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree or two years of relevant library experience;A valid Utah Operator License;The ability to reach, push, pull, squat, and move repetitively to retrieve and shelve items on library shelves (with or without a library cart), walking, standing, or sitting for extended time periods (two to four hours), and carrying a reasonable selection of materials between places where they are stored and places where they are used within library facilities and property. May be required to lift/carry materials up to 50 pounds.Responsibilities:Associate Librarians will:Provide reference and reader's advisor services, and instruct patrons in the use of library resources, including databases, reference materials, catalogs, computers, makerspace equipment, and the interlibrary loan system;Participate in material circulation procedures;Promote library use;Act as "librarian in charge" when administration is not available;Resolve day-to-day operational problems/issues involving staff and/or patrons and provide technical advice to Library staff;Manage a budget and make fiscally responsible purchasing choices in line with Logan City guidelines;Perform other duties as assigned.Associate Librarians may:Participate in creating, organizing, and/or delivering public programming related to the relevant collection and/or personal interest;Supervises the activities in technical services;Catalog items as needed;Manage Interlibrary Loan and homebound services;Manage the makerspace, including staff and patron training, troubleshoot problems, and arrange repairs or replacements as needed;Lead or support monetary internal control procedures;Manage patron accounts;Act as library board secretary;Participate in materials processing and/or repair.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:The ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and by listening in the modes of public speaking, speaking with small groups, providing instruction, counseling, and direction, and in preparing notes, memoranda, policies, correspondence, and reports;Basic technology skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet searching, and resource evaluation;The ability to receive, understand, interpret, and carry out library policies and procedures;The ability to engage in an ongoing intellectual effort to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of library resources, learning, literature, and information resource.Essentials:Essential functions, as determined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the above tasks, knowledge, and other characteristics.
