Job Summary The Louisiana State Mesonet, within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), is seeking applications for a Full Stack Developer to maintain and continue development of the mesonet web presence and database. This includes maintaining the SQL database that stores mesonet data, adding new station data as they are installed, and developing new web products and applications using the mesonet station data to support project objectives and partner/stakeholder requests. This position is supervised by the Mesonet Manager.
This is a full-time, 12-month position currently funded for 1-year at a competitive salary with a full benefits package. Employment extension beyond the first year is possible based on funding availability and a favorable formal review. Duties and Responsibilities Build and maintain features across the frontend and backend Collaborate with the mesonet team, partners, and other stakeholders to turn ideas into a polished user interface, new mesonet web products, and/or applications Responsible for designing, developing, and deploying user interfaces, server-side logic, managing databases, configuring APIs, and ensuring overall application responsiveness Responding to issues on a timely basis to ensure an uninterrupted flow of mesonet data to partners and stakeholders Any other duties as needed at the request of the Mesonet Manager and/or Mesonet Executive Director Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and past work experience.
Front-end proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and experience with at least one modern front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue) Back-end proficiency in Python, NodeJS, PHP, Rust, Java, and/or C++ Database management experience with SQL Proficiency with version control (Git and GitHub) and ability to build APIs Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work in a collaborative environment, and a desire to learn new technologies are a must Ability to work a flexible schedule Supplemental Information Required Attachments to include with your completed application: 1. cover letter 2.
