The YMCA of the North-one of the largest and most dynamic nonprofit organizations in the region-is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. In-Person Attendance Requirement:
Candidates must be located within reasonable commuting distance and able to adjust their schedule as needed to support regular, often daily, in-person collaboration.
The salary range for this position is at $80,000 - $92,000 annually. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
1. Job Summary:
The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with business leaders to drive strategic decision-making by delivering actionable insights through financial, business, and data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
The incumbent reviews financial statements for accuracy, performs variance analysis, specialized accounting work, compilation of financial reports and dashboards. The incumbent represents the finance department when working with branch, product and program management.
2. Essential Functions:
โ€ข Develops budget and forecast information for the designated product areas.
โ€ข Provides comprehensive fiscal knowledge, accounting support, financial analysis, and technical assistance to branches, departments and/or program areas.
โ€ข Assists branches, camps or assigned product area in the implementation of financial strategies, programs and projects, including financial performance, interpretation of accounting policies, operating procedures, development of pro-formas for new sites and programs, participate in analysis and market studies of products, develop reports and the administration of various financial procedures and processes.
โ€ข Supports implementation of financial controls which assures compliance with internal policies, external regulations, GAAP and non-profit accounting standards, and the integrity of all financial transactions.
โ€ข Researches and prepares variance and margin analysis for operational units and the entire Association. Initiates questions for explanations and development of corrective action plans.
โ€ข Researches and models project proformas and operating statements for the organization, which may include long-term financial planning and new, renovated or expanded facilities and/or programs, in collaboration with the Real Estate team and project leaders.
โ€ข May present data/analysis to senior leaders and Finance Committee for strategic decision making purposes.
โ€ข Reviews financial statements for accuracy and initiate any changes or corrections ensuring that all transactions have correctly posted to the general ledger.
โ€ข Applies State and Federal laws and YMCA policy by providing coaching and advice in accounting matters, including the areas of operational improvement.
โ€ข Develops, recommends and may implement accounting policies and procedures which create consistencies and implement best practices for departments.
โ€ข Provides training and coaching to Financial Analysts, Associate Financial Analysts, assigned branches, camps or programs staff on financial processes, procedures, and financial software (i.e. Traction Rec, Microsoft Great Plains, Salesforce , and Planful)
โ€ข Serves as an Administrative back-up for Planful Financial Software and leads projects to further the efficiency of the Finance Team in Planful.
3. Relationships:
This position reports to the Finance Manager who reports to the AVP of Financial Planning and Analysis. The incumbent interacts regularly with Branch Executives, Program Directors and other Association staff.
4. Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
โ€ข Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and accounting.
โ€ข In-depth understanding of accounting principles, methods and applications, and general knowledge of budget management, development and financial analysis.
โ€ข Proven reasoning, analytical, problem solving and consultative skills with an ability to deliver difficult messages.
โ€ข Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to make recommendations and decisions.
โ€ข High degree of competence, initiative and the ability to make independent decisions.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Excellent organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive working relationships at all levels.
โ€ข Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Knowledge of and demonstrated technical skills working with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
โ€ข CPA Certification and/or MBA degree.
โ€ข Expert Excel skills
โ€ข Experience working in non-profit accounting.
โ€ข Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, Planful, Traction Rec, and Salesforce software.
5. Work Conditions:
โ€ข Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
โ€ข Travel to branch and camp locations for meetings.
