Job description

Geotechnical department is looking for a candidate to support our growing team in the New York southern tier area (not New York City). This employee may be an entry level up to an associate level. Salary is negotiable based on prior experience and may be a wider range than listed based on discussions with supervisor and division director.

Duties:

  • Perform geotechnical field services, which may include subsurface exploration layouts, drilling and test pit inspections, geophysical surveys, and construction monitoring.
  • Perform visual classification and laboratory testing of soil samples collected during the subsurface investigation.
  • Prepare subsurface exploration logs for use in geotechnical evaluations and reports.
  • Perform geotechnical evaluations and prepare report drafts for senior review.

Requirements

  • B.S degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 0 - 3 years of progressive experience in the geotechnical field.
  • Prior experience in a geotechnical laboratory is preferred but not required.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred but not required.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Position will require out of town field work based on workload (approximately 40%)
  • Position will require ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a high capacity for self-motivation.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to a variety of geotechnical projects.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
