At ERM, you'll gain hands-on experience working on complex, high-impact projects that help clean up and repurpose industrial sites-while building the technical and project management skills that set the foundation for long-term career growth.
ERM is seeking a Consulting Associate, Environmental Construction to join our growing Pittsburgh, PA team. You'll support demolition, decontamination, and decommissioning (DDD), remediation, and environmental construction projects across North America for clients in the oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, and power sectors.

As part of ERM's project delivery team, your work will directly support responsible site closure, remediation, and redevelopment efforts-contributing to safer communities and a more sustainable future.

  • Support project managers in delivering complex environmental construction and DDD projects from planning through field execution
  • Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, and client requirements
  • Gain exposure to all phases of environmental project delivery while developing toward future project management responsibilities

What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Recent graduate to 3 years of experience in environmental engineering, remediation, or construction management consulting
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (required)
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate effectively across project teams
  • Willingness to travel and temporarily relocate to project sites across the U.S., as needed

Preferred
  • Experience supporting construction or remediation sites, including DDD projects
  • Exposure to development of work plans, field oversight, and technical report writing
  • Experience working under strict health and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and project support for remediation, environmental construction, site restoration, earthwork, and DDD projects
  • Assist with project planning and execution, including permitting, design reviews, cost estimating, scheduling, and constructability reviews
  • Support pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, subcontractor coordination, and schedule tracking
  • Assist with contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract compliance documentation
  • Support preparation of bid packages and engineering cost estimates under project manager direction
  • Serve as Field Safety Officer on assigned projects, including implementation of site-specific Health & Safety Plans and daily safety briefings
  • Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, and field progress
  • Act as a liaison between field teams and in-house project managers to support successful project delivery
  • Assist with client coordination and business development activities, including proposals and interviews
