The Role

As Director of QA/QC, you will lead and manage the development of a company-wide quality program that reflects industry-leading standards and prioritizes continuous improvement. This role calls for broad expertise in construction quality management - with particular strength in building science - along with active involvement in industry organizations and leadership roles. You'll be instrumental in building scalable QA/QC strategies across diverse market sectors, supporting the company's ambitious growth and commitment to excellence.

What you will accomplish

  • Establish, document, and continuously improve a company-wide quality program that reflects industry-leading standards and drives continuous improvement across all market sectors.
  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of Quality Program Managers, Inspectors, and field staff across multiple regions, and lead quality training programs for Superintendents, Project Engineers, Project Managers, craftsmen, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate preconstruction quality planning - including mock-ups, first-in-place inspections, and constructability reviews - ensuring quality expectations are clearly defined in contract documents and addressed early in design coordination meetings.
  • Provide expert guidance on construction quality, including building envelope systems, moisture control, thermal performance, and fire/sound-rated assemblies.
  • Conduct expert-level field investigations and root cause analysis to support internal reporting and dispute resolution; drive preventive and corrective action plans across all phases, from preconstruction through warranty.
  • Develop and implement quality testing and evaluation processes, inspection protocols, and QC documentation standards, reviewing checklists, logs, and reports for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Oversee scheduled and random QC compliance inspections and the associated reporting structure across project teams.
  • Build and maintain enterprise-wide quality KPIs and dashboards, reporting performance and non-conformance trends to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate and implement Lean Construction and other quality methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with preconstruction, safety, and commissioning teams to identify and mitigate quality risks early in project lifecycles.
  • Contribute to industry education and internal best practices by authoring technical content and staying active in industry organizations.
  • Support business development by contributing to project pursuit proposals and participating in client interviews as needed.

What we would like you to have

  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, with experience and/or training in a quality management role within a general contracting or construction management environment.
  • Thorough working knowledge of construction means and methods, regulatory agency codes, and QA/QC processes.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction or other quality methodologies.
  • Proficiency in construction management software platforms (e.g., Procore).
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial construction, safety standards, and project management.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion.
